Thomas Pynchon is an American novelist, probably best known for Gravity's Rainbow and The Crying of Lot 49, whose first novel V. includes a little disquisition about how the "Kilroy was here" face originated as a diagram for a band-pass filter. According to the Wikipedia entry for V. it's actually a band-stop filter. I thought that might have been what you talking about. This explanation is more or less the climax of the novel. I thought that was what you might be talking about.
The Wikipedia entry is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V. It also has a link to "Kilroy was here."
I fear that this comment makes absolutely no sense (though maybe reading the bit of that Wikipedia article about Chapter 16 will help). And now I kind of want to make a Sailor class whose would be based on V. |
